The six-episode series concludes with a free online report featuring the top lessons learned on the path toward more relevant, engaging, aligned professional learning
Sandy, Utah — Dec. 2, 2016 — This year, Performance Matters launched an in-depth conversation about the current state of professional learning in K-12 education, based on a survey of more than 500 teachers and principals. Today, it debuts the final episode of the Educator Viewpoints on Personalized Professional Learning Salon Series in a free, comprehensive report [http://www2.performancematters.com/salon_series_6], which is available online.
Episode 6, titled “Bringing It All Together: Making It REAL (Relevant, Engaging, Aligned Learning),” highlights key themes and insights from the Salon Series. It presents survey results, educator voices, best practices and tools to create more personalized professional learning climates. It also shares how Austin Independent School District in Texas connects the dots between teacher needs and professional learning.
“According to the Personalized Professional Learning Survey, almost 90 percent of teachers and leaders wish that teacher professional development experiences were more meaningful and relevant at least some of the time,” said Jeanette Haren, chief product officer and co-founder of Performance Matters. “Through the survey and Salon Series, we’ve worked to shine a light on the professional learning topics that are front and center for educators. As we engaged in conversations with educators across the country, we were amazed by their ingenuity in finding ways to move from compliance to connection in professional development. We’re excited to share all we have collectively learned, and we hope this sparks many more conversations and innovations in the years to come.”
